This is the million-dollar question.....!!!!! The time it takes to make a pair of handmade espadrilles can vary depending on several factors, such as the design, materials, and level of detail required. In our family workshop, where each espadrille is handcrafted with great dedication and care, it can take approximately 3 hours to complete a pair. However, this time can be extended for more complex or personalized designs.
Material Selection and Preparation:
The process begins with the careful selection of high-quality materials. We use jute for the soles and cotton for the fabrics, ensuring that each component is durable and comfortable. Proper material selection can take more or less time, depending on availability and required quality.
Cutting and Piece Preparation:
Once the materials are selected, we proceed to cut the different parts of the espadrille. This stage requires precision and experience to ensure that all pieces fit together perfectly. Cutting and preparation can take around 30 minutes, considering that each piece must be cut accurately to guarantee comfort and the correct fit.
Sewing and Assembly:
Sewing is one of the longest and most delicate processes. In this phase, the cut pieces are meticulously assembled and sewn to form the structure of the espadrille. During this process, it is ensured that each stitch is firm and precise, guaranteeing the footwear's durability.
Sole Assembly:
Sole assembly is another crucial stage that requires time and skill. The jute must be sewn to the upper part of the espadrille. This process, which can take between 30 and 45 minutes, includes the placement of additional insoles and a latex layer for greater comfort and support.
Finishing and Quality Review:
Finally, the necessary finishing and reviews are carried out to ensure that each pair meets our quality standards. This includes inspecting seams, verifying the fit, and applying any additional details, such as embellishments or customizations.
Commitment to Craftsmanship:
The time invested in each pair of espadrilles reflects not only the skill and experience of our artisans but also our commitment to tradition and excellence in every detail. Every minute dedicated to crafting ensures that you are receiving a unique and authentic product that combines functionality and artisanal beauty.
It is important to note that, although artisanal production may take longer than industrial production, the result is a higher quality product with added value that cannot be replicated on an assembly line. Each pair of espadrilles we make carries a part of our history and our passion for this art.
